Pokemon City Championships at AU, November 26th & 27th

November 23rd, 2011

Alternate Universes will be hosting the Pokemon City Championships this weekend. On Saturday, November 26th the Championship will be held at the Blue Bell store. On Sunday, November 27th the tournament will be held at the Wilmington store. Registration begins at 10AM with play at 11AM both days. These tournaments are FREE!

Format: Modified Constructed

Prizes for each of three age groups:
1st: 18 boosters + 6 championship points
2nd: 10 boosters + 5 championship points
3rd & 4th: 4 boosters each + 4 championship points
(if there are 32+players in age group then 5-8Th receive 3 championship points)

All players receive a promo card while supplies last. Door prizes: pokeballs, stickers, pencils

AU MTG Legacy Showdown X Saturday, November 19th!

Alternate Universes Blue Bell will be hosting a Magic: the Gathering sanctioned Legacy Tournament Showdown on Saturday, November 19th. Registration will open at 10:00 AM with play to begin at 11:00 AM. Prizes will be as follows:

1st place: Time Vault

2nd Place: Library of Alexandria

3rd & 4th: $75 store credit

5th – 8th: $35.00 store credit (awarded if 25 players register)

Entry fee is $25.00. All participants will be entered into a drawing for random door prizes. This is a DCI sanctioned tournament, so no proxies are permitted.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Photon Shockwave Sneak Peek Events This Weekend!

October 18th, 2011

Alternate Universes will be hosting Yu-Gi-Oh Photon Shockwave Sneak Peek Events Saturday, November 5th and Sunday, November 6th at the Holmes, Blue Bell & Wilmington stores. The dueling will begin on Saturday, November 5th at 9:30AM and run until 5:00PM. Dueling will resume on Sunday, November 6th at 11AM and run through 5:00PM.

Entry fee for the event is $20.00. Each participant will receive 5 booster packs of Photon Shockwave to build a 40 card deck for casual play throughout the day. Each duelist will also receive a foil promo card. Additionally, Photon Shockwave Sneak Peek playmats will be randomly given away throughout the day while supplies last. (Must be present to win.)

Side events will be held at each location as follows:

Holmes
Constructed tournaments at 2PM Saturday & Sunday. $5.00 entry fee. (Photon Shockwave cards will be legal). All players receive a Turbo Pack upon entering.

Blue Bell
Saturday, November 5th
2PM: Constructed Tournament $5.00 entry fee. (Photon Shockwave cards will be legal). All players receive a Turbo Pack upon entering.

Pokemon Noble Victories Prerelease at AU, Blue Bell, Saturday, Oct. 29th

Alternate Universes Blue Bell will be hosting the Pokemon Noble Victories Prerelease on Saturday, October 29th. Registration begins @ 10:00AM; Play begins @ 11:00AM

The entry fee will be $25. The sealed pack tournament means that each player will receive 6 boosters of the new Noble Victories set to build a deck and play for 4 rounds. Each player will also receive 2 bonus packs just for participating, as well as promo cards and Themed gift items while supplies last. Each Noble Victories booster pack will include a code for the Trading Game Online.

MTG Innistrad Game Day, Saturday October 29th at all three AU stores

Alternate Universes will be holding Magic: the Gathering Game Day on Saturday, October 29th at all 3 AU stores. These are standard format tournaments with a $5.00 entry. The winner is crowned store champion for the Innistrad set.

All participants receive an exclusive Diregraf Ghoul card (while supplies last). The Top 8 players also each receive an exclusive Elite Inquisitor extended-art prize card (while supplies last). These cards are awarded to the Top 8 players even if the tournament cuts only to the Top 4. Pack prizes will also be awarded.

The schedule for the tournaments is as follows:

Blue Bell & Holmes: Saturday October 29th at 6:00PM

Wilmington: Saturday, October 29th at 3:00PM

Registration begins one hour before the start time.

2nd Place: The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale

3rd & 4th: $100 store credit

5th – 8th: $35.00 store credit (awarded if 25 players register)

Entry fee is $25.00. All participants will be entered into a drawing for random door prize of FTV: Legends. This is a DCI sanctioned tournament, so no proxies are permitted.

Pokemon Battle Roads Schedule at AU

Alternate Universes will be hosting Pokemon Battle Roads Tournaments at all three of our locations as follows:

Holmes: Saturday, September 24th - Registration at 10AM, Play at 10:30AM

Blue Bell: Saturday, October 1st - Registration at 10AM, Play at 11AM

Wilmington: Saturday, October 8th - Registration at 10AM, Play at 11:00AM

Entry: Free

Format: Modified Constructed – Bring your own 60 card deck using cards from HeartGold SoulSilver and later. We will use the Black & White rules. Decklists are required.

PRIZES: (Prizes go to the Top 4 in each age group)
1st Place: Gold Victory Cup & 4 booster packs
2nd Place: Silver Victory Cup & 4 booster packs
3rd Place: Bronze Victory Cup & 2 booster packs
4th Place: 2 booster packs

You may play in as many Battle Roads as you would like.
These are Premier events (so you can gain rating points). The K value will be 4.
After the swiss rounds (where everyone plays) there will be a maximum single elimination cut of top 4.

MTG Magic Celebration & Free Mini Master Tournament 9/10

August 10th, 2011

Alternate Universes will be holding the first Magic Celebration at all three of our stores on Saturday, September 10th! Just for showing up at the celebration, you’ll get a free Magic 2012 booster pack. Not only that, but the first 4 customers who come in during the celebration and buy a Deckbuilder’s Toolkit will also get a free T-shirt!

That’s not all, as during the day, we’ll be holding a FREE Mini Master (a.k.a. Pack Wars) tournament at each store, thanks to Wizards of the Coast. The play will be Swiss-style, and for each round that you win you’ll get another free pack of M12!

AU Holmes:
Celebration begins @ 5 PM, ends at the end of the tournament
Tournament begins @ 6PM

AU Blue Bell:
Celebration Noon – 5 PM
Tournament begins @ 2 PM

AU Wilmington:
Celebration 3 PM – 7 PM
Tournament begins @ 4 PM

Innistrad Launch Parties are a great way to celebrate the release of the latest Magic: The Gathering set! Play, trade, spend time with friends, and win cool prizes! All participants receive a Ludevic’s Test Subject/Ludevic’s Abomination exclusive Launch Party promo card (while supplies last).

AU, Blue Bell: Friday, September 30th at 7:00PM; Draft Format (3x Packs of Innistrad); Entry Fee: $15.00
