Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Dueling Day – Sunday, February 17th at AU Blue Bell

Alternate Universes is holding a Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel day on Sunday, February 17th at AU Blue Bell to celebrate the recent launch of Speed Dueling! This event is casual play, not a tournament. The event will take place all day. Players who enter will get a free Speed Duel lanyard, life pad, and pen while supplies last, as well as a card to track their progress throughout the day. Speed Duel playmats will be randomly awarded to participants during the event!

Speed Dueling is easy to learn, and is based on the ruleset found in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links video game. Whether this is your first time playing a physical card game, or you’re looking to take your Duel Links knowledge to the real world, Speed Dueling is your gateway to the world of Yu-Gi-Oh!

  • Speed Dueling is a specialized version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME.
  • Speed Dueling features 4 basic card types: Monster Cards, Spell Cards, Trap Cards and Skill Cards.
  • The goal is to Summon powerful monsters, power them up with Spell or Trap Cards, and battle your opponent.
  • Skill Cards let you become your favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! character, and give you special abilities to use in your Duels!
  • Both players start with 4,000 Life Points. Reduce your opponent’s Life Points to 0 to win the Duel!

Speed Duel cards are usable in the regular Yu-Gi-Oh! game, but not vice-versa.

Entry: $10
Each player gets a Speed Duel Starter Deck for entering (the starter deck includes three individual Speed Duel decks). Starter decks don’t have to be used out of the box, players may modify or bring their own Speed Duel decks to participate!

Yu-Gi-Oh! OTS Championship Tournaments – 2/23 at AU Holmes and AU Wilmington & 2/24 at AU Blue Bell

Alternate Universes is proud to announce that we will be hosting Yu-Gi-Oh! OTS Championship Tournaments Saturday, February 23rd at AU Holmes and AU Wilmington, and Sunday February 24th at AU Blue Bell! OTS Championships are a good way to earn invites to the next World Championship Qualifier, and earn some UDS points while you’re at it! Booster pack prizes will also be awarded based on attendance!

Entry fee: $20
Each player will receive 4 OTS Packs for entering, plus 5 UDS Points.

Registration start: 10 AM
Play begins: 11 AM

Official Konami Judges will be present at each location.

Format:
All Yu-Gi-Oh! OTS Championship events are Tier 2, Advanced Constructed tournaments with Swiss Rounds and Top 8 Playoffs.  The number of Swiss rounds played will depend on the overall number of participants.  Prizes will be awarded at the end of the final playoff round.

Decklists are required for this event.
Duelists can download the official KDE Deck List at http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/events/forms/KDE_DeckList.pdf
This is an editable PDF, so you will be able to type the card names into this form, which should help as your decklist needs to be legible and complete – write the name of each card in full, and write down how many copies you have in your deck.  Make sure your name and COSSY ID are on your decklist.  If you do not have a COSSY ID, they will be available on the day of the event.  Make sure your decklist exactly matches your deck.  Duelists are encouraged to complete their decklist before arriving at the tournament!

PRIZES:

  • First place will receive an exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! OTS Championship Game Mat, an invite to the next World Championship Qualifier, and 15 UDS Points (10 for the invite, 5 for accurately completing the WCQ Invite Form)
  • Top 4 Duelists, after the conclusion of the Top 8 Playoffs, will each receive an invite to the next World Championship Qualifier and 15 UDS Points (10 for the invite, 5 for accurately completing the WCQ Invite Form)

This will be an Advanced Constructed Swiss-Style tournament with the number of rounds depending on the number of players. There will be a Top 8 cut. Decklists will be required!
