Alternate Universes will be hosting the 2012 Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Terrace Ballroom, Broad & Arch Arch Sts., in Philadelphia.  The main event will begin Saturday, May 19th at 10:00AM.   The entry fee is $20.00.  Upon entering each player will receive 5 packs of Galactic Overlord.   Registraion will be held from 8:00AM Saturday until 9:45AM.  There will also be preregistration on Friday, May 18th from 3:00PM until 7:00PM.   Please preregister on Friday if at all possible as we expect long lines for registration Saturday morning.  Decklists must be turned in at registration.  If you preregister your decklist must be turned in Saturday morning between 8:00AM & 9:30AM

In addition to the main events, many side events will also be held including Dragon Dueling for players 12 years old and younger.  Here is the schedule and entry fee for the side events:

Alternate Universes will be hosting Yu-Gi-Oh Galactic Overlord Sneak Peek Events Saturday, April 28th and Sunday, April 29th.  Due to the fact that the Yu-Gi-Oh! Sneak Peek and Magic: the Gathering & Pokemon  prereleases have been scheduled for the same weekend there are several changes to the usual sneak peek schedule.  Please check the individual store schedules below for the location, dates and times the Galactic Overlord sneak peeks will be held at each AU store. 

Entry fee for the event is $20.00. Each participant will receive 5 booster packs of Galactic Overlord to build a 40 card deck for casual play throughout the day. Each duelist will also receive a foil promo card. Additionally, Galactic Overlord Sneak Peek playmats will be randomly given away throughout the day while supplies last. (Must be present to win.)

Don’t miss the Helvault Tournaments! Preregister now!

The Magic: the Gathering Avacyn Restored prerelease tournaments will be held Saturday, April 28th & 29th at all three AU stores.  All three stores will be holding two HELVAULT TOURNAMENTS in addition to their regularly scheduled events. The Helvault event is like a regular prerelease tournament, including the sealed-deck tournament, but with the addition of a Helvault. This mysterious container will be unsealed in stages throughout the event, as players earn certain achievements in the tournament, revealing prizes for all participants. The exact contents of the Helvault are unknown; it’s a surprise for everyone!

Format for all event tournaments is sealed deck except for the Sealed 2-Headed Giant Tournament at Blue Bell.  Entry fee is $30.00.  Preregistration for Helvault tournaments is highly recommended as these events are limted to 54 players.   All preregistrations must be paid.

Each player receives a foil Moonsliver Spear for participating in the prerelease (while supplies last).  As usual, pack prizes will also be awarded based on the number of wins.

We bring this up because in the real world, April 6, 2012 is a full moon. And it’s a Friday. And what could be more thematic than playing Innistrad Block cards at Friday Night Magic under a full moon?

To help answer that question, Wizards of the Coast has sent out the first Double-Faced Token. One side’s a 1/1 Human, and the other side is a 2/2 Wolf. While supplies last, they’ll be given out to everyone who plays Friday Night Magic on April 6, 2012. And of course, the regular Friday Night Magic promo card for April (Dismember) will be given away as well.

Alternate Universes Blue Bell will be hosting our first Cardfight!! Vanguard Tournmant on Saturday, March 24th at 2:00PM.  Registration will open at 1:00PM.   Entry fee is $10.00 and winner will receive a box of the latest Cardfight! Vanguard expansion set – Onslaught of Dragon Souls.    Other prizes will be awarded depending on the number of players.  This is a double elimination tournament, with best out of three matches.

1st place: Mox Emerald (What else!)

2nd Place: 2x Tarmogoyf

3rd & 4th: $75 store credit

5th – 8th: $35.00 store credit (awarded if 25 players register)

Entry fee is $25.00. All participants will be entered into a drawing for random door prizes. This is a DCI sanctioned tournament, so no proxies are permitted.

Alternate Universes Blue Bell will be holding a special Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012.  First place prize will be a brand new Apple  iPad 2!  Registration will open at 10AM and the tournament will begin promptly at Noon.  Entry fee is $25.

3rd & 4th Places: $100.00 store credit each
5th through 8th:  1 sealed box of Order of Chaos each!

This is an Advanced Constructed Swiss-Style tournament with the number of rounds depending on the number of players.  There will be a top 8 cut.  Local tournament rules will be in effect, so there will be no draws.

Additionally, we will be holding 8-player single elimination box tournaments beginning after the 2nd round.  Entry fee for the box tournaments will be $12.00.

Our goal is run a tournament of 75+ players. To encourage that, in addition to byes normally given away for Grand Prix Trials, we are going to be giving away the following prizes should we get 75 or more players:
